Towers and Temples

I watch the debacle about the NYC mosque and wonder how we got this far. Religious liberty seems to have taken a back seat to fundamentalist Christian bigotry.  Will someone please correct me if I'm wrong?  This mosque has been around in the same location for some time and in fact, there are several other places of worship, not to mention a strip club in the same neighborhood.  Why then have passionate Christians chosen to blackball and protest the mosque over the strip club?  Does the mosque represent more of an evil than the Muslims that have been worshiping there for years?

"While a New York Islamic center sparks controversy, a synagogue in Beirut is being restored and re-opened for Lebanon's tiny Jewish population. Jibril Hambel wonders who the real fundamentalists are." Read full article here. Fascinating perspective in this article from JO magazine every Christian should read.  Interesting that Lebanese seem to be OK with a Synagouge... and the liberties afforded Lebanese are much less than those afforded Americans.  Where have we gone wrong?

Dear Lord give us patience and help us to love our Muslim neighbors as you've called us to be Ambassadors and Ministers of reconciliation.
