Inside "Inside the Revolution"It is very rare to find a Jew (Messianic or not) who loves Muslims. Joel Rosenberg has broken new ground in his writing, blogging and charity work in his 'loving Israel and her neighbors.' Recently Joel hosted a live event "webinared" to hundreds of churches to promote his new DVD and book 'Inside the Revolution.' You can watch the town hall meeting here and here's an interview with him that has some great insights.
The Zionist (pro-Israel) stance is pretty evident in most of Joel's material. After all, his audience is the Evangelical church, and he is trying to sell books (and now DVD's). It is indeed hard to maintain balance in these issues for Christians. My caveat when digesting material (fiction or non-fiction) regarding Israel/Islam/terrorism, is to remember that the Christian's role is not to take sides, it is not normally a role in the political sphere, but that of peacemaker in the relationship sphere. We can't focus on 'the threat of radical Islam' because it will only lead to fear and an unhealthy obsession. Geo-Political entities and strategies will not likely bring the solution for peace. The solution lies on the micro-level with individuals who know the author of peace. Our focus needs to be on engaging Muslims and Jews in our own spheres of influence. Relating to these other precious souls and praying for them, as fellow humans, to recognize their need for salvation, and come to Jesus, is the role of the church. I plea with you, don't get caught up in hype and fear... rejoice at the testimonies of those that have come to faith, and pray for peace... but remember your role. Don't neglect your neighbors and the church's mission in the midst of global politics. |
