Email forward: Movie Corpus Cristi'

I really don't like email forwards... especially the ones that make Christians look like naive idiots because false information gets passed on unverified. This email I received today about a film portraying Jesus and the disciples as gay men is one of those forwards (See Snopes for the full story). I thought it worth sharing verbatim because of the reference the anonymous author made to Islam. Even though the content of the email is ridiculously false... I thought the observation about Muslims was worth commenting on.

This disgusting film is set to appear in America later this year and it depicts Jesus and his disciples as homosexuals! As a play, this has already been in theaters for a while. It's called Corpus Christi ' which means 'The Christ Body.' It's a revolting mockery of our Lord. But, we can make a difference. That's why I am sending this e-mail to you. If you do send this around, we may be able to prevent this film from showing in America and South Africa .

Apparently, some regions in Europe have already banned the film. We need a lot of prayers and a lot of e-mails. As a Christian I want to take a stand in what I believe in and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Savior.

At the risk of a bit of inconvenience, I'm forwarding this to all I think would appreciate it. Please help us prevent such offenses against our Lord. Remember, Islam strongly and radically protesting with violence if their god is insulted. How much more for us to stand against this anti-Christ movement.

Muslims do tend to be much more protective of the image of their prophets in the media. The collective society doesn't tolerate criticism of Mohammad or God. There is something to learn here... not that Christians should riot when we receive emails like this... but that we should carefully verify facts, and then take a stand on the hills of Biblical truth. Freedom of speech and religion is a two way street. We can give others (such as Muslims) the freedom to believe what they wish, but we also have the right to speak out strongly against falsehood. We will be a better testimony to the world, and Muslims will notice and respect our defense of truth. In Islamic culture the level of intensity or fervor seems to equate to how true or valuable something is. How valuable are the truths of the Bible?
