Rick Warren speaks to Muslims

This is a worthwhile video to watch taken from CSPAN.  Thanks to the Shaw Blog for posting! Rick Warren was invited to address the Muslim Public Affairs Council.  I was most impressed with his posture.  This is a great example of how Evangelicals should consider relating to Muslims.  No watered down theology here, but lots of love and grace, and focus on what we have in common, without compromise or apology for what's in conflict.  "You can disagree without being disagreeable." A lesson that perhaps other prominent Evangelical leaders need to learn before making inflammatory comments about Mohammad and Islam that cause worldwide riots (I won't name names...)

Warren suggests we work together on issues we can agree on with Muslims like poverty, disease, and AIDS. How about that for a missions/evangelism methodology?  Is it possible that Muslims and Christians could work together based on shared moral convictions?  Certainly some would take issue, however, if we can't acknowledge the positives that we have in common, how will we gain the right to dialogue about the deeper spiritual issues? Demonstration of our faith (working out of our salvation) must precede intellectual dialogue and polemics.  I don't know of a single person who was argued into choosing to follow Christ, but I can give testimony to many who were convinced by the example of godly living, and the grace of unconditional love. What's your opinion?
